Fitmark Ambassador Allison Pease inspires us to reach our goals for 2013
I’m still in shock that 2012 has come and gone in the blink of an eye. Like the flash of a camera taking a picture, it’s only a small memory to what I’ve accomplished last year. Sometimes it’d be nice if time would slow down, especially since I’ve already celebrated the New Year and my birthday for 2013. Like many people, I’m eagerly awaiting a fresh start for new challenges and have pondered how I’m going to reach my goals. Typically, I jot down a list of goals or projects, but not this year. As a matter of fact, my organizational mentality is overloaded with ideas that I am still soaking up the chaotic thrill. Surprisingly, getting to the gym and eating healthy isn’t one of them since I’ve already mastered that goal. I’m looking to experience other exploits in life from travel, activities, education and pushing forward in my career. There are so many things I hope to accomplish this year.
Perhaps I’ll be tempted by a new hobby I’ve never considered before like mountain biking, rock climbing or CrossFit. It appears that the apprehension to try new things must have dissipated after I successfully accomplished my biggest dream; to compete in a bikini show. The overwhelming feeling that I can do anything I focus on engulfed my confidence. Maybe it’s the excitement accompanied by risk of the unknown that makes life so much more interesting. Everyday we make choices that will impact our futures and although I thoroughly consider all possible scenarios, the time to improve is now. With the right tools and a realistic understanding of what is involved, I am motivated and inspired to keep moving forward.
This year will certainly be an expansion of my education and I intend to earn my Master’s degree this year in Exercise Science. With a previous degree in dietetics, it is my dream to become a Registered Dietitian with a focus in healthy living. Knowledge is important to me and I truly feel it will be a life-long craving that will never be satisfied. Although I’m positive this will be a tough academic year, since I’m shooting for a Master’s degree and Dietetic Internship, I’m equally confident it will help me expand my career goals.
I won’t deny that life will inevitably throw me some unforeseen obstacles but that is what makes it interesting. You’ve got to roll with the punches, get knocked down and keep going. With so many exciting paths to take, I’ve come to the conclusion that another year older will be another year more exciting than the last. What do you plan to achieve in 2013 that will make you a better person than last year? There are no wrong answers, only goals to accomplish and memories to look back on.
