Fitmark Ambassador Melissa Creal talks about how you can stop using excuses and make the time
Time. You either think you have too much of it, or not enough. One of my pet peeves is when someone tells me their goal or dream and they follow it up with a comment such as, “But I just don’t have the time”. Yes you do!!! I don’t have the time to work full time, be in graduate school, and training as hard as I do, sometimes 2-3 times a day, and compete. I have to make the time. It’s as easy as prioritizing what you deem to be most important to you, and what you’re willing to give up to get to where your goals and dreams are.
It is a hard spot to be in; having dreams and goals and not knowing the best way to obtain them based on the amount of time you think you have. It puts everyone into a mini panic attack when thinking about what you should change in your daily routine to allow you to become active in the areas you which to achieve. The hardest part for me was realizing that yes, I did have social activities I could cut out, but did I truly want to? I could give up the time I spent lying in bed or on the couch doing nothing and substitute it for activities that led me closer to my goals. The very last thing I wanted to sacrifice was my social life to compete.
But slowly and surely I realized that it was what was causing me to not be able to reach my goals. Little by little I began to pick and choose what was “ok” to skip and what I truly wanted to attend. If you truly want to reach your goals and dreams, you will do anything you have to do to get there.
