Fitmark Ambassador Dustin Pederson encourages you to make your health and goals a priority
When you ask someone whether they workout or not and the answer is “no,” the most common reason is “time.” There always seems to be more work than time to do it, so the question is “How do I find time get in shape, be healthier and happier?” Although the answer itself may be simple, the journey is far from, you will need to change your priorities in your life and set attainable goals.
Goals and priorities are two things that go hand in hand. Making health and fitness a priority is a small thing that can make a huge difference in living a healthy lifestyle. We all have a way of getting carried away and we forget that in order to change our appearance or health we need to begin to change our lives. I will let you know right now that there are no simple solutions, no magic pills, and no cure alls that will give you the body you want in weeks, months or even years so you can kick that idea to the curb right now. So let’s get down to it then, what is it going to take to make the changes you want to see.
Let’s talk goals. We can’t let ourselves get carried away, we need to be realistic! There is nothing wrong with setting lofty long term goals. Maybe you need to lose 20, 50, or even 100 pounds, that’s a great goal but we need to take the right steps to get there. Accomplishing small short term goals keeps you on track and allows you attain your larger, long term goals. What kind of short term goals are we talking about? These goals can be anything! It is recommended that we drink 64 oz of water, and I’m willing to bet most of us don’t. Do you go out for lunch on your break instead of packing one from home? The recommended minimum amount of exercise is 150 minutes per week. These are all great starting points, but we must remember that when you accomplish short term goal it is time to set another.
Taking steps to better your health is not going to be an easy undertaking. By taking the time to make health and fitness a priority in your life and by setting attainable short term goals you are setting yourself up for success. After you realize your goals, it is time to begin the journey. It’s important to remember that this is a life long journey and the longer you stick with it the happier you will be!
