Fitmark Ambassador Jelani Kelly gives a few tips on how to increase your motivation level
Here is a small little truth — “You won’t always feel motivated to workout hard and eat clean.” I know I know this may sound crazy to many of you but some of you are nodding your head as you read this. The optimal way to maximize your fitness potential is to have a great combination of intense resistance training, a clean eating lifestyle, and the proper amount of rest and sleep. Some of us can go three for three. Some can reach two out of three. And there are those who are only getting one out of three (and that one is simply the resting part) Well, I want to give you a few tips on how to increase your motivation level so you can be someone who goes three for three.
Tip 1 : Don’t Bite Off More Than You Can Chew
There is an old adage that says “How does a cowboy eat an entire cow? ONE bite at a time.” This is very fitting to someone trying to improve his or her fitness goals. Take it one step at a time. Too often people go from minimal fitness activity to trying to follow the entire plan it takes for those who compete in Mr or Mrs Olympia. That is a recipe for disaster starting from frustration and then disappointment. Start with baby steps. Make small incremental changes to your routine that up the intensity of your plan.
Tip 2 : Find a Muse
Artist often speak of a muse as someone or something that helped inspired them to create a masterpiece. Well you are about to become an artist and your body is a canvas. So find a muse. My advice for finding a muse is a fitness athlete that motivates or inspires you and not just his or her physical appearance. These days you can use social media to find many athletes that share their trials and tribulations and also how they made to where they are. I have a few that I look up to help push and motivate but YOU need to find your own.
These are just a few tips to help you get on the right track to finding and keeping your motivation!
