Fitmark Ambassador Catrina Whitman encourages you to start being honest with yourself if a change needs to be made
In High school I was always very active. I played Golf, ran cross-country, danced and was in the Marching band. Despite the common misconception, Marching band is actually a demanding sport. Yes a sport of the arts! Back on topic, it wasn’t until College that my physique took a turn for the worst. I was still in Marching Band at the collegiate level, but only for the first year. Once, I left the Marching band, my activity level decreased significantly and I adopted some “bad habits” like drinking alcohol, staying out late and giving into late night temptations after a long night.
The weight started to sneak up on me. I’m a tiny female; 4’11” to be precise so to weight 170 lbs looks anything but normal. I could not grasp the concept that I had gained not only the freshman 15, but also a total of 50 pounds in a matter of a year and a half! I have since lost all of that and some! For a total of 70 pounds!
One day it really just hit me, and I had the reality check of a lifetime. I was not happy with my life or my body. No outfit seemed to make me look good anymore, and that’s when I decided to make the change! I wasn’t going to allow myself to look like a sausage filling into a tight dress! I was spending endless amounts of money buying new clothes because I kept growing like a Chia Pet. Enough was enough!
I cut out unhealthy relationships, and made a new one with my gym. Boy does he treat me good!
In order to make the change, you have to first be honest with yourself. You need to realize that you are not who you want to be, you need to map out a plan for success and STICK to it, and you need to realize that honey those clothes just look painful on you! Reality checks may be harsh at times but something needs to happen. No one deserves to be unhappy resulting from his or her physical appearance. That is one thing you can actually control! Once you have a great body, everything looks fabulous on you! You become a fit and fabulous person! Start making small changes here and there. Stay strong and FOCUSED!
