Fitmark Ambassador Amy Felman shares how you can create balance in your personal life and fitness
“Balance” is the one of the key words when it comes to being dedicated to your fitness goals. Fitness doesn’t have to be about sacrificing your personal time. I get asked,” How I do it?” Well, it didn’t happen overnight. I didn’t really become dedicated until I started working at a gym over a year ago. That gave me no excuses to not work out as well as getting those fundamental habits established. However, these habits are constantly pushed to the test when I am studying for nursing. It’s all about a balance and finding ways to be successful living this lifestyle!

Fitting workouts in can be overwhelming. Breathe! I schedule my workouts in and have a “backup” plan just in case I miss it. If I can’t make it to lift, I make sure I at least get cardio in. Spring is here and summer is just around the corner, so enjoy being active outdoors! I love doing high intensity interval training cardio outside. We tend to waste so much time on being plugged into our phones that we miss those opportunities to be active. Just spending 30 minutes going for a walk is better than nothing.
This doesn’t mean that you should ignore your friends and just focus on fitness. However, try incorporating more fitness related activities to help accomplish staying fit and being social. What about having a fitness partner? My friend Mark is a bodybuilder and I will workout with him when I’m in a rut with my current routine. Let me just tell you, I work so much harder having someone encouraging me during my workouts! It also can be a lot of fun. I do Yoga on my rest days with my girlfriend and it’s a great way to catch up! Plus, stretching your sore muscles is crucial to prevent injury! These help build a foundation in your journey to a healthy lifestyle, but also holds you accountable as well.
These are ways that I hold myself responsible with my fit lifestyle. It is so easy to put being healthy on the back burner. Being in nursing school isn’t an excuse for me anymore. Fitting in time to workout is essential for your body’s overall health, not to mention mentally. Get those endorphins flowing and see results with finding a balance!
Stay fit,
