Part of my family’s evening rhythm is riding bikes down to the river to watch the sunset. One evening it wasn’t very clear and we wondered if we wouldn’t even see the sun at all. It was however the perfect temp and no rain in sight. I told my husband that we should bike to the river anyway. He said for me to lead the way.
As we were just about to cross the swing bridge we could see it was packed with people fishing. We could have easily turned around but instead I politely excused us as we walked our bikes past. We reached the point of the river and while it seemed dreary and cloudy at first suddenly the sun peaked out and that is when Natures show began. My children were in awe as we sat at the edge of the river.
I have to say it was one of the prettiest sunsets we have experienced and living on the coast we do witness many. My son stated it reminded him of the Serengetti. It was breathtaking to say the least. My son had even commented how we almost would have missed it if we had turned around. It was actually a wonderful lesson to be learned from.
Many times we get to a point and think we can’t go further, we want to turn around thinking it will not be worth it. What if these are the moments that we could experience growth, positive life changing opportunities or simply just beautiful experiences. As for my family and I we continue to follow our family rhythms and we continue our evening bike rides. Always remember you don’t have to take the same path as everyone else just follow your heart, live with passion and don’t give up. Remain in the present and don’t be so quick to give up you may just miss something wonderful. Get outside and play in Nature.
