Up until last year, I was constantly belittling my body. I never have had great self-esteem and dealt with body issues all my life. I didn’t workout or eat healthy as a lifestyle, but as a fix to become skinny. Last fall I was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy. It was completely debilitating to go through and I was fortunate to make close to a 100% recovery from it. The doctor said it was due to working out. However, even though I have always worked out, doesn’t mean it didn’t do its damage.
On my recovery from my condition, I decided to really invest in my health. Instead of logging in countless hours of working out, I started listening to what my body wanted while allowing it to heal. I changed my whole fitness routine. The transition was tough due to old habits, but I feel so much healthier! It has made body strong. Moving forward from an injury or any type of condition is very hard. It may take awhile, but that is ok! Stay positive and keep going. There will be a time when you can go back, but its all about moving forward and not allowing the past to hinder you.
It is not easy for me to share this story, because it is not of my favorite memories. However, it is one that has strengthened me and allowed me to be a better version of myself. I hope by sharing this, it will help people keep moving forward and continue with achieving their goal!
