I have always been involved in sports and fitness my whole life, I started by playing basketball in elementary school for a recreational team through high school then in addition to high school I started playing volleyball. After high school my love for fitness and being active grew as I began weight lifting. At 18 I joined a gym and started taking group fitness classes and soon it became apart of my regular routine. At the age of 24 I achieved my Certification to become a Personal Trainer. I wanted to help people reach their own goals and feel good about themselves just like weight training had done for me.
In January of 2012 I made a decision that really changed my life. I decided to compete in the Fit Sciences Championships in Atlanta, GA on June 1, 2012. I trained hard, cleaned up my diet and focused on my goal. I competed in Bikini Tall Division placing 1st in my Division and 5th Overall. My hard work and dedication paid off, after months and months of training, the nights when I would look in the mirror and tell myself, you’re almost there, don’t give up.
There were so many trials and struggles through those months, wanting to skip a workout, making an excuse as to why I was too tired, weekends with my husband and friends wanting to have a few beers or cheat on my clean eating and indulge in all those yummy treats! My head was telling me to just say “YES” just this one time, but my heart over ruled and never let me give in. I knew how bad I wanted to accomplish this goal I set out and I did!
Over a year later looking back and reflecting on that moment I see the progress I’ve even made since then. One thing I am proud of is never giving up, I could have so many times and honestly there were almost times I did, but I kept on driving and moving forward. I never gave up. It’s all about heart!
