This month I want to encourage you to keep pushing, to keep trying and to keep giving. So many times in life when we find ourselves in a “dark place” we lose motivation and positivity. We want to give up, to throw in the towel. These feelings are normal and need to be acknowledged in order to move forward, but they shouldn’t become your focus. Instead, try doing things that you know bring happiness to your life and keep your thoughts positive and encouraging.
Here are some tips to get through the tough times:
- Surround yourself with positive people that care about you: you’ve all heard it “you are the company that you keep”, if your friends are encouraging and positive, it will rub off on you.
- Do things that make you happy: do you like to go hiking? To paint? To play piano? Then do it! Do things that you know make you happier and make you feel good.
- Eradicate the negative: do you have people in your life that contribute to your unhappiness? Tell them so and if they don’t understand then they’re probably not meant to be in your life.
- Be kind to yourself: lastly the most powerful muscle is the one between your ears, your brain! Make your thoughts positive and kind to yourself, truly believe that you can overcome it and believe that you are worth it!
I hope that these few little tips will help you when you are struggling and help you help others. If you suspect someone is in a “dark place” ask him or her what’s wrong, listen and comfort him or her. Why? “Seek first to understand and then to be understood”. I hope you focus on the light at the end of the tunnel.
