It is summer time and there are a ton of ways to get off track with health. While summer calls for hot weather, there are other things that can impend us from keeping consistent with our fitness. There are barbeques, graduation parties, vacations, and more. However, this does not mean it is an “end all, be all.” Just the like the saying goes “fail to plan, plan to fail.” By planning more activities vs. being sedentary is a great way to enjoy summer and stay on track with your health.
More vacations mean more opportunities not to hit the weights. However, this is the perfect time to stay on track and keep up with your fitness goals. Being outdoors and active is helping not only you, but also others. I try to take runs or walks while on vacation to avoid being sedentary. This is also a great way to talk with your loved ones and have them participate. This and plyometric at home is a great alternative when there is no gym at where you are staying. Even if it is at a family member’s house, this is a great way to get your workout in. This will help you avoid a summer slump.
Have a dog? By making sure you give your animal proper exercise, in result helps you be accountable for your health. For instance, I have a golden retriever. This particular pup loves being outdoors and being active, one trait I wanted in my dog. So there is no way I can slack with her exercise or else she will wake me up at night. This gets me outdoors in the morning to start my day. A nice walk in the morning jump-starts your day. This is my guarantee for getting myself to the gym later on in the day while keeping my dog active. Furthermore, this pertains to vacation with my pup as well.
By planning during the summer to keep active during summer events will help maintain what you are trying to achieve. You won’t feel defeated or discouraged while still enjoying time with others. This will help with accountability in reaching your goals and maintaining an active lifestyle.
Enjoy the summer!
