So many people get caught up on numbers in life. Whether it be for the cost of something, hours of sleep every night or a number on a scale. What do all these numbers mean? Like everything else in life, it is based on your perception. A weight is just a number on a scale, it doesn’t mean much without knowing the composition of your body. Why should this number matter if you’re living a healthy lifestyle? It shouldn’t.
Soon after my son was born my weight dropped pretty quickly being a new mom. I got to a weight that was lower than I was comfortable with and eventually, when he was older I fluctuated to a higher weight that I wasn’t comfort with either.
I had always wanted to gain weight and hadn’t been able to do so. I had reached the highest weight in my life at 110 but it wasn’t done in the healthiest way. At that point in my life I was ready to make a change. I didn’t want to lose my womanly shape that I, at age 23, had finally obtained, but I did know that I wanted to make some healthy lifestyle changes to benefit myself, as well as my son.
It all started with the decision to change. I then contacted a close friend to help me in my journey to a healthy life. I had been around WBFF athletes that were living the ultimate healthy lifestyle. I called Chelcea Gonzales, aka the One Eighty Lady, and that’s when it all began. I started weight training as well as meals plans to get my body to its optimum level of health. I was always the girl that didn’t quite know what to do at the gym. I would bounce around from one machine to another and I was always intimidated by the free weights section in the gym
Where to start? With help from friends and other athletes I began my journey, including weight training as well as cardiovascular exercises with an eventual goal of competing in a WBFF show to earn my pro card. I never would’ve thought I would be setting the fitness goals that I have for myself now. Within just 4 weeks time, I had converted 21% body fat to 15% obtaining more muscle and ended up weighing the same but with a much healthier physique. Now I am continuing on to compete in the WBFF worlds show in Las Vegas as an amateur to obtain my pro card as a diva bikini model. It all started with a choice to make a healthy lifestyle change and it has poured positivity into my life ever since. A number on a scale is just a number, without balance in your life it means nothing. You can do anything you set your mind to.
