The first inning of Wednesday night’s Yankee game was a hit to say the least. Combining his minor and major league hits, Ichiro Suzuki reached the 4,000 hit plateau bringing the game to a complete stop.
A standing ovation from fans and an overwhelming amount of hugs and high fives from his teammates happened during that historical moment. “I didn’t have 4,000 hits my whole career going back to T-ball” Joe Girardi said with a smile “to me, it’s an incredible feat and he’s some kind of hitter.” Ichiro has taken the title from Lou Gehrig for sole possession of 59th place on the all-time major-league list!
With one more season remaining on his 2-year $13 million dollar contract, fans and teammates wait and watch to see if he can join teammate Derek Jeter by reaching the 3,000 career hit milestone in the states. Ichiro Suzuki, for being consistent and always making it happen on the diamond, you definitely Fit the Mark!
