We could all learn something from the long-distance swimmer and motivational speaker, Diana Nyad.

After four other tries, this 64-year-old woman became the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage. She covered 110 miles in 53 hours. Nyad is an inspiration to us all. She stated three messages to the public after completing her swim, “One is, we should never, ever give up. Two is, you’re never too old to chase your dream. Three is, it looks like a solitary sport, but it is a team.” In 1978, Nyad tried for the first time and about 35 years later, she tried again and succeeded. She endured shark invested waters, jellyfish, ocean currents, and weather problems, but she always tried again! Nyad also swam 28 miles around the island of Manhattan and 102 miles from the Bahamas to Juno Beach, Florida.
Diana Nyad, without a doubt, Fits the Mark for her historic and amazing feat.
