So you’re looking to make a change. Maybe you want to lose weight, eat healthier, stop drinking cokes, start working out regularly, run a marathon or compete in a figure competition. Whatever it is, you can’t make a major change in your life if you lack the motivation to do so.
How do I stay motivated? I find having a few tricks up my sleeve works best. Sometimes I set a goal of making it to the gym eighteen times a month. If I accomplish this goal, I’ll reward myself with a new piece of workout attire. Another trick that always works when I’m on a running kick is signing up for a race. If I pay to run, I’m definitely going to train.
Another good tip is find what you love. If you’re wanting to lose weight but you despise the treadmill, it’s probably a good idea to avoid that devilish contraption. Instead, find something that makes you excited to go to the gym, like a spin class or group fitness class. It also helps to have a workout buddy to keep you accountable. It’s a lot harder to bail on going to the gym if you have a friend waiting there for you. Sit down and make a list of the reasons why you’re making a lifestyle change. Refer to this list anytime you feel that you’re lacking motivation. Making a change has to become a priority. Making excuses wont get you to your goal!
To stay motivated, find what you love and do it. Results will come. The biggest motivator is seeing your body change. Once you see what happens when you put in the effort, you’ll be making excuses to workout more! Keep pushin’ on!
