When I joined a well known cosmetic company, I was told that I would be empowering women. Several months into it I was unhappy and so were most of my clients. The products were too high, and neither my clients nor I really enjoyed the products. The best part of the whole ordeal was getting together with some of my best girlfriends for several hours. We didn’t feel empowered from the product and I was ready to move forward with something else.
When I began going to a local group fitness class (after a long hiatus from being active), I found my empowerment. I found a confidence in myself that I never had and soon wanted to share this new found enthusiasm. Even before weight started dropping or the inches started coming down, I was different. So what was I to do but get certified to teach and I didn’t stop there. I went on to get a personal trainer certification and group fitness certifications so I could be my own organization.
When I first started my classes I knew my main goal would be to make these women, some who have struggled with weight their entire lives, believe that they can do this and secondly for them to believe they are worth it! The first time one of my girls thanked me for starting this class and went on to explain how much better she was feeling, I knew I had found my dream state! Goal of encouraging had begun and I was being encouraged by them just as much as they are encouraged by me.
Some of the same friends from our cosmetic group have found their ways to our fitness classes. We still laugh and have a wonderful time. The difference now is that we are not only being empowered but we are empowering each other. We are each other’s cheerleaders. I want my girls to feel that they are amazing! This is just the beginning of our journey, but the ride so far has been fast with some fierce ladies! The best is yet to come.
