Take a quick peak at the calendar! Can you believe it’s the holiday season already? Talk about time hastily passing! It really puts goal setting – and more importantly – life into perspective. The holiday season and the accompanying realization of how fast time goes always instills a sense of self-responsibility to check-in with myself, my goals, and the people I surround myself with. All of the aforementioned reality checks are crucial in life and important to engage in, but the latter is often overlooked and what I want to focus on!
I know it sounds trivial, but do you ever ask yourself the question “are the people I’m surrounding myself with bolstering or hindering the person I want to become?” I know it sounds egocentric, but it most certainly is not; in fact, I’d argue it’s the complete opposite! If you aren’t reaching your fullest potential – whether it’s in life, fitness, work, diet, etc. – then you will not be able to adequately provide for yourself let alone show the support and encouragement you need to help the people that surround you. I would, therefore, argue that it’s unselfish and a noble act which more people should engage in!
So this holiday season definitely enjoy yourself, have fun, and participate in all the regular activities! But also make an attempt to check-in with yourself and evaluate if the people you surround yourself with bring out the best in you or cause you to doubt yourself, lower yourself esteem, and make achieving your goals more difficult! So set yourself up for success and surround yourself with the right people that bring out the best and you and allow you to bring out the best in others! For everyone’s sake, I sincerely hope you have a joyous holiday and find that the people you are surrounding yourself bring out nothing but the best in you!
