We’ve been waiting for this Sunday since NFL preseason in August, and although our 49ers didn’t make it, this year’s Super Bowl will be sure to rock the Big Apple. Russell Wilson, quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, will go head to head with Denver Broncos’ Peyton Manning, who had the best season of his career. Seahawks’ stadium, CenturyLink Field, served as a 12th man for them this season; their fans making it hard for visiting teams to perform and communicate because of noise and enthusiasm. Although Seattle fans played a big role in their success, Wilson had an outstanding season, leading his team to a 13-3 record (same as the Brancos). With only two years of NFL experience under his belt, Wilson has accumulated a total of 6,475 yards and 52 touchdowns, with 3,3357 yards and 26 touch downs earned this season. Talk about consistency.
Wilson, 25-year-old Virginia native, attended North Carolina State and played football at the University of Wisconsin. In 2012 he was the 75th pick in the third round of the NFL draft by Seattle. Since, Wilson has grown as an NFL player, taking the Seahawks to the top of their conference this season and leading them to a Super Bowl game. This year will be the Seahawks’ first Super Bowl appearance in eight years.
Wilson is 12 years younger than Denver’s Peyton Manning, which makes this the first Super Bowl to have the largest age spread between two starting quarterbacks in NFL Super Bowl history. Despite his age, this young star has a lot to learn and has shown no signs of slowing down. Wilson will try to lead his team to victory this Sunday on the ultimate proving ground in sports, the Super Bowl. With such a bright NFL future ahead, Russell Wilson, definitely Fits the Mark!
