I think it goes without saying that at some point in our lives, we all need a source of inspiration. When I find I don’t quite have the motivation I need to get myself out to do my long run, or to get myself to the gym to weight-train, or even prep my meals for the week; inspiration is the key to making these things happen. And, it’s not limited to just the fitness realm of life. It holds true in all areas of our lives from work to relationships and so on.
The question that looms in front of us (whether we clearly see it or not) is, “Where do I get the inspiration to make it happen?” The answer to that question varies from person to person and you may find that your source of inspiration will shift from one experience to the next. Perhaps you look inward for inspiration; reflecting on your accomplishments and things that have made you successful. If you see how far you have come and how much you have achieved, it’s impossible to not be inspired and keep moving the progress forward.
Maybe you aren’t the kind of person that uses your own personal achievements as something to build on. Maybe your inspiration is the person you see and hope to obtain the same level of fitness as, or, maybe it’s the promotion at work you’re hoping to receive. You can take absolutely anything and use it as inspiration to better yourself. But what’s even more important is how your drive and desire can spread. Through your determination and goals, you will inspire others around you. You may not notice it at first, or ever, but it’s happening. And, the people around you need it.
Other people will feed off of your desire to succeed which will give them the desire to succeed and the inspiration will continue to spread which will make all of us better as individuals. When we become better individuals, we also improve our communities, family life, and friendships. I have always said one of the best compliments you can ever give and/or receive is “You’re an inspiration” or “You’re inspiring”. You never know who you may impact with your positive thoughts and actions, so, let’s make it happen, let’s support and encourage each other and spread the inspiration!
