With the NHL playoff season on the horizon, all New York Ranger fans can wonder is, “who will be the starting goalie?” Will it be franchise netminder, Henrik Lundqvist or rookie, Cam Talbot? Talbot has proved himself since starting early February while Lundqvist was at the Winter Olympics representing Sweden. Talbot has continued his starting trend proving he could be the Ranger’s ultimate X-factor in the push towards playoffs and has been playing up to the standard Lundqvist has set for the Rangers. Both goalies have very impressive stats, yet it’s Talbot who has been taken full advantage of his playing time while Lundqvist has taken well earned rests. Time to shine Rookie!
Talbot, 26, grew up in Caledonia, Canada and has racked in some impressive stats so far this season and since playing the NHL. Ranked 52nd in the league, he has 18 game points and is on pace for 37 by the end of the season. With only 5 losses, he’s on track for 10 by the end of the season and with 22 games left in the regular season, that really isn’t so bad.
With the focus now on the second half of the season, the New York Rangers are feeling pretty confident especially with such a deep bench. Talbot has shown that he can be counted on which has made it a tough call for who will start for the Rangers going forward. Putting the team on his back, and earning the respect as a rookie starter from his teammates, Cam Talbot definitely Fits the Mark!
