Last Saturday was an action packed night for the UFC. Before Jon Jones dominated Glover Teixeira in 5 rounds at UFC 172, Fitmark athlete, Jim Miller, put on a show in Baltimore Arena. Scheduled to fight an overmatched fighter, Yancy Medeiros, Miller proved he was the better fighter.
The fight started slowly, neither choosing an aggressive approach. Miller, however, picked it up, starting to land some punches and big body shots on Medeiros. After a devastating knee from Miller, Medeiros looked shaken up and the veteran took advantage. Miller quickly took him to the ground and locked Medeiros in a guillotine choke. After just 3 minutes, the fight was over.
Miller’s performance was necessary after a disappointing 2013. His only victory last year came at UFC 168 against Fabricio Camoes. Nevertheless, he proved last Saturday that he wasn’t losing his step and was ready for another big fight. After Saturday’s win, Miller expressed his desire for a challenging opponent. He cited fighters ranked above him including Khabib Nurmagomedov, Josh Thomson, and T.J. Grant. The possibilities are exciting for Miller, and he is looking to capitalize on his momentum. His ability to demonstrate his prowess under pressure and yearning for the big stage make him Fit the Mark.
