The Miami Heat are bound for the Eastern Conference Finals once again after an incredible rally in Game 5 against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. The home team Heat defeated the visiting Nets 96-94. Lebron James was the focal point of it all scoring 29 points in the series finale and 30 points per game in this year’s postseason. The superstar, who has an app now for his devout fans, played just about 40 minutes per game, reaching a tiresome 44 minutes Wednesday night.
Lebron was not only charged with the bulk of his team’s offensive output, but he also had to the responsibility of playing shutdown defense against the Nets’ primary scorer, Joe Johnson. It was his steal in the final seconds that allowed the Heat to escape with a win. His most impressive performance, however, came on Monday night when he lit up New York’s borough for 49 points. Lebron James carried a struggling Heat team and allowed them to take a 3-1 series lead into Miami.
It was Lebron’s focus that brought him and his teammates success. After the game, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said, “That’s what it was down the stretch…incredible focus.” Lebron knows some about that. As is his custom, he has shut down all social media outlets this playoffs season, focusing his entire energy on basketball. And he’s needed every bit of it these playoffs. For his dedication to the game, Lebron James definitely Fits the Mark.
