Last Sunday, the Monaco Grand Prix took place on the Circuit de Monaco. Considered to be one of the most prestigious automobile races in the world, the stage was set for a great day of drama between the favorites, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, who are also teammates in Mercedes. The two racers have won every race in the 2014 Formula One season thus far and that did not change Sunday as Nico Rosberg won his home race for the second year in a row.
Rosberg had a lead from start to finish but the win did not come easily. Hamilton was on his tail the entire race, never more than 2 seconds from reaching the leader. The only time his teammate let up was in the final laps when dirt in his eye prohibited him of the visibility and comfort he needed to catch up.
Rosberg and Hamilton’s rivalry in the same team draws comparisons the feuds between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost at the McLaren team. Senna and Prost won every race but one during the 1988 season but with much turmoil between them throughout the process. Nico Rosberg was able to handle the pressures throughout the week and held on to a close race and for this, he Fits the Mark.
