For the first time in franchise history, the San Antonio Spurs are making a back-to-back appearance in the NBA finals against the Miami Heat. After defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Spurs are poised to attempt to take the title from the defending champions. Power forward and center, Tim Duncan, was crucial in their success as he scored nineteen points, leading his team to victory during overtime in Game Six in the Western Conference Finals.
Duncan, 38, was able to prove to be the best player on the court during those pivotal overtime minutes. Scoring seven of his nineteen points in overtime, Tim Duncan and the Spurs showed that teamwork is the key to success. During Game Six, all eleven Spurs players scored, whereas only five players on the Oklahoma City Thunder handled the ball.
Duncan has often rejected the spotlight or fame and is capable of taking a backseat to allow other players to score while handling the pressure of the playoffs. His positive energy and leadership are the driving force to the Spurs success and for this, he Fits the Mark.
