Do you want to meet a quarterback’s worst nightmare? A player who is feared by an offense and is determined to get the job done on and off the field. Well, let me introduce you to J.J. Watt, a 6’5, 289 pound defensive end for the Houston Texans. He is an incredible talent out of the University of Wisconsin and is entering his fourth NFL career. Watt already has a reputation as being one of the most vicious and hard-nosed (no pun intended) defensive players in the league.

With three seasons under his belt, Watt has recorded 37 sacks, 217 combined tackles, 8 forced fumbles and let’s not forget the memorable moment when he received 6 stitches in his nose mid-game, and then continued to play. That being said, the Houston Texans signed a six-year, $100 million contract on Monday ($51.8 million guaranteed), making him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. So how did J.J. Watt respond to the news? According to the Houston Chronicle, Watt was back in the weight room that morning at 4 a.m., so early that the cleaning lady had to let him into the building.
When J.J. Watt was asked if it bothered him that his teammates made fun of him because he was “too busy to have a personal life,” this is how he responded: “Right now my job is to watch film, workout, and treat my body right. When I get done with football, then I can relax and drink as many beers as I want and hang out and be a regular guy. Right now, I am a football player and I will sacrifice whatever is necessary to be the best.” Because of Watt’s dedication, attitude and skill, he most definitely Fits the Mark!
