When you talk about the elite Quarterbacks in the NFL a few names come to mind, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and so on. However, maybe we are leaving one name off the list. Matt Ryan, Quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons is coming off a rough year, after he led his 2013 team to a 4-12 record. And although, his team did not perform well, Ryan finished the year with 89.6 passing rating, and 4,515 passing yards to complement his previous stellar years as the Falcons Franchise player.
But, here is why many agree that Ryan should be feared and given the title as of one of the most elite Quarterback’s. Despite Ryan’s previous playoff meltdown’s, he has proven that he can pick defenses apart with a career total of 23,920 yards, 156 touchdowns, and an overall 91.1 passing rating.
Surprisingly though, Ryan’s career stats are not the topic of discussion among sports analysts lately. Instead, we are all focusing on Ryan’s performance the other day against the powerhouse New Orleans Saints. Ryan put his game face on, and made the Saints defense look confused by throwing for 448 yards, with 3 touchdowns. So the question is, is this the year Matt Ryan can get the job done and lock himself down as one of the elite? Time will tell, but for now, his dedication, work ethic, passion, and ability to produce results is the reason why he Fits the Mark!
