If you are a football fan then you have heard the name Steve Smith, one of the most talented receivers to ever play the game. You will also relate his name with the Carolina Panthers; however, this year he is tearing up the league as a Baltimore Raven. As a 5’9, 195 pound player, Smith has always had to prove himself as he is undersized compared to the majority of NFL receivers. But his size never seemed to interfere with his career as he has recorded 12,626 receiving yards, 70 touchdowns, and 4 returned touchdowns.
But why is this year different, and what is contributing to his tremendous start of the season? Well, Steve Smith has dedicated thirteen years to the Carolina Panthers organization, and when his contract was up for discussion, General Manager Dave Gettlemen, said it was nothing personal and hinted to Veteran receiver that his time in Carolina was over.
Highly offended by the way he was treated, Smith signed with the Baltimore Ravens to prove he still has the skill to dominate the game of football, and so far going into week five of the 2014 season, Smith has not had a game under 70 receiving yards. Although, Steve Smith’s plan of staying a Panther his entire career did not work out, at the age of 35, he is proving himself on the field and staying dedicated to game he loves, and for this he Fits the Mark!
