Between extra-inning games and team pride, the 2014 Major League Postseason has been extremely entertaining. However, can this be the year the San Francisco Giants bring home another World Series trophy? For all the hopeful fans rooting for the Giants, so far it is going well.
Midway through a thrilling National League playoff game, the San Francisco Giants simply locked in and performed under the pressure of October. The excitement all started with Jayson Werth, who has been under-performing in the postseason with a .067 batting average. He was facing Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong, who has had problems hitting the zone this year, but was throwing with determination and confidence. Vogelsong left a pitch in the zone just enough for Werth to make contact and flip his bat. AT&T Park went silent while everyone watched the ball carry out toward right field, thinking the Nationals are back in the game. However, as everyone knows in the game of baseball, things happen and all it takes is one good read on the ball to save your team. Giants’ right fielder Hunter Pence can attest to that statement, as he jumped up robbing Werth of the shot that bounced off his bat!
The Giants didn’t make it look pretty, scoring all three runs on a bases-loaded walk, a groundout, and a wild pitch. But we have to love the effort and ability to come off with a win, and for this the entire Giants organization Fits the Mark! San Fran will now face the St. Louis Cardinals, another really good October team. So sit back, Giants fans, and get ready for a memorable post season run.
