Welcome to January – the busiest time of the year in the gym for newbies and regulars alike. It’s the time of year when all of us start planning and changing up our routines.
Call it New Year’s Resolutions if you want, (though 92% of those are doomed to fail), we’re looking for successful ways to keep you motivated.
As luck would have it, this year the emphasis is on designing your fitness routine around your lifestyle – keeping it short and with a focus on functional training.
So some workouts are high intensity and involve moves like squats and deadlifts.
#HIT or #HIIT are the two buzzwords of the moment
High Intensity Training
HIT or HIIT, otherwise known as high intensity training or high intensity interval training is a surefire method of building strength and muscle. HIT also sets your metabolism on fire. Not only does it help with regulating insulin levels and burning carbs more efficiently, it helps burn fat long after you’ve left the gym. This all means a leaner physique in half the time. Now that’s a resolution that’s sure to succeed.
Another fitness trend hitting the top-ten list for 2015 that we just had to mention is cardio bars – a kind of cardio party complete with DJ. You know how much you sweat when you hit the dance floor, well now you can party with your fitness friends in a healthy juice bar with a live DJ. Invite all your friends and boogie away that extra booty. Zumba, anyone?
