We caught up with Fitmark Ambassador, Nadine Dumas, in the tropical Cayman Islands to get her expert advice on healthy living.
Nadine is an international fitness/swimsuit model, worldwide coach, accomplished entrepreneur and mother, as well as a sports nutritionist, child obesity specialist, personal trainer, and health & wellness coach. An afternoon picnic is something my little one and I do often here in the Cayman Islands. One of our favorite spots is Camana Bay. It’s the perfect place for families to bring their kids for a picnic. While the children run around in the fountains, the parents can grab a cool spot on the grass and relax.
But most moms out there know all too well what a huge production a simple outing like a picnic can be. When you have kids in tow, there is just so much stuff you need to bring with you. Often you end up with numerous bags, purses and food containers just for a few hours of relaxation.
One item that makes my life easier and one that I never go without is the Dashing Tote. It holds everything you’ll need for a picnic in the park. Everything from a blanket to lay on the grass to sunblock, water, wipes, extra clothes, swim suit, money, magazine, a cell phone and snacks. There is even a separate bag inside that I can put wet towels and swimsuits in once we are done. The Dashing Tote looks just like a purse, stylish and sophisticated, without that tacky beach bag look, yet it’s so practical.
I always make sure to pack enough healthy food and snacks to keep my young one and I well fed for the day. One of my favorite snacks is my triple chocolate protein pancakes. Yes, pancakes as a snack! I cook them in the morning, shaping them into palm sized pancakes that double as a cookie, then stick them in the fridge. They are great cold. Here is my recipe if you want to give it a try:
- 1/2 scoop Cellucor molten chocolate Cor-Performance Whey
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 cup egg whites
- 1 tbsp cocoa
- Cinnamon and vanilla
- 1 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
- 1-2 tbsps Hersheys dark chocolate chips
Pre cook the oats in a small amount of water (this will make the pancakes fluffy). In a blender, combine all ingredients except chocolate chips. Makes 8 small protein pancakes and yes, this is one meal.
