Coming up in next month’s issue of Inside Fitness Magazine, Fitmark Ambassador Rob Monroe heads outside for an adventure workout in the beautiful region of Niagara Falls: Welcome To The Jungle Gym!
We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the upcoming shoot in this video Rob sent us. See if you can guess which Fitmark bag he’s carrying.

So how does a guy get from the gym to the pages of a top fitness magazine? We asked the pro himself, Rob Monroe:
My fitness journey began with training for High School Football. I was blessed with a coach that shared a passion for the weight room along with the football field. He started me off with my very first training regime and taught me all the exercises I needed to know.
After High School, I got involved with a local gym where over the years my training developed into a more of a bodybuilding style of training.

After being a part of the gym for 5 years I decided to compete. In my first year I climbed from a Regional Show all the way up to an International Show, where I represented Team Canada. I am now in my second year of competing.
What is your training and nutrition like when you’re training for the Nationals?
Starting 8 weeks out from Nationals, my training and nutrition become very strict. Every single meal I eat has a purpose, along with every workout.
I will consume 5 meals a day and train twice a day, 6 days a week. Cardio & abs in the mornings and weight training at night.
Quick shoutout to @fitmarkbags for designing some sick meal management bags that make it simple to travel with my daily meals.
What advice would you give others wanting to become a male fitness model?
My advice to others looking to become fitness models would be to know what your getting into. Although there are many positives, it takes a whole lot of work. You need to be ready 365 days a year. Most times I have a week or two’s notice before my shoots so there is no off season.
When I was 18 Inside Fitness Magazine came to my gym, Fitness Zone, took photos and published an article on how special & unique the gym was. I was ecstatic to make it in one of the photos and see my face in a magazine.
Fast forward 7 years and I have my own article published, doing my own work out and proving if you want something bad enough you can achieve it.
You need to be able to find a healthy balance between living strict & letting loose, dieting & indulging, and really just be doing it for the right reasons.
Thanks for speaking with us, Rob ~ @fitnesszonekid
