It’s a New Year and that means it’s time for a New You! Everybody wants to get into shape and live a healthier lifestyle at this time of year. All it takes is that one spark to motivate you, and we’ve got just the person for the job! Fitmark Ambassador Brittany Coutu loves helping and motivating others to succeed in their fitness goals.
Fitness has become a part of me and has brought a lot of positive energy back into my life – Fitmark Ambassador Brittany Coutu.
At the young age of nine, Brittany was motivated by fitness and gymnastics. Her love and passion for the sport grew, and so did her athletic ability. By the age of 17, she had progressed to a Level 10, and was “competing on the Varsity Cheerleading and Track Team.” She told us:
We placed First Team All State for four years in a row.
Her dedication to the sport earned her a scholarship to the University of Bridgeport. But after graduating, Brittany struggled with motivation and focused her time and energy on her career. She had come to the end of a relationship that left her “spiraling out of control.” So she took life by the horns and signed up for her very first fitness competition:
Initially my response was ‘are you kidding! I don’t know how to diet, nor do I know one thing about a show!’ But after putting some thought into it, I realized this was the motivation I needed – this show was a step in the right direction.
Brittany’s gymnastic background, her familiarity with competition, and her passion for fitness served her well. It only took two shows before she won her pro card in Fitness Modeling with the WBFF. She told us:
My main focus was to mentally and physically bring myself back to a healthier lifestyle. Little did I know I would strive for perfection within my workouts and stage practicing.
Bitten by the fitness bug once again, Brittany was back on track. This time her passion for the sport had earned her a pro card, the title of Ms New England 2014, as well as a sponsorship with “one of the most innovative supplement companies, known as Shredz.”
Throughout her fitness career, Brittany has trusted in the process, and taken one day at a time. All it takes is that very first step, and then there’s no looking back. To help get you started, we asked Brittany to share one of her winning workouts with us.
Brittany’s New Year, New You Workout
- 10 front lunges with bar 5×5
- Walking lunges with 35lb plate overhead 3×10
- Hip thrusters bar/105lb 4×10
- Reverse hyperextension 4×15
- Upright speed skaters over bench L|R 3X10 each leg
- 250 Donkey kicks each leg
Even though Brittany is taking a break from competing on stage, meal prep and planning is still a very important part of her healthy lifestyle.

One of Brittany’s favorite dishes that she likes to pack in her Fitmark bag is this easy-to-make chicken recipe.
Sweet Bacon Chicken
- 99% fat free organic chicken
- Turkey bacon
- Organic honey
- Flavor God lemon and garlic dressing
Wrap turkey bacon around chicken breasts or tenderloins, drizzle with honey, and then add seasoning. Cook at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or desired crispiness of bacon.
This sounds delicious and would go really well with some crispy organic greens.
