What’s In The Bag, Lais?
Here’s a sneak peek of what to expect on the inside of this video, or should we say bag? Lais manages to pack a whopping number of healthy snacks into her bag and still have room left over for those little extras.
Cravings for salty food always seem to hit sometime after you’ve killed it in the gym. Be prepared, so you don’t get caught out when you’re out and about! Lais recommends jicama sticks, sprinkled with lemon juice and spicy seasoning. Jicama is crunchy and juicy like a savory apple. Plus, it’s very high in vitamin C, which also makes it an anti-oxidant. Eat them up!
Pre- and Post-Workout Energy Snacks
Snacks aren’t always to curb cravings. Sometimes you need a boost of protein to get you through your workout and to fuel those muscles once they’re all fired up. Lais likes to cook up a batch of turkey and egg muffins. She’ll have two before she works out and two afterward. She says they’re perfect for when she’s super hungry and needs some substance.
Turkey Egg Muffins Ingredients
- White potatoes, diced
- Seasoned lean ground turkey, crumbled
- Jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
- Turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- Eggs, beaten
Place all ingredients into muffin cups and bake in the oven at 350 degrees, until the eggs are nice and fluffy and completely cooked. Cool and store in the refrigerator. Grab a few whenever you’re on the go.
Sweet Tooth Cravings
Lais has the perfect remedy for this – NLA for Her Performance Chews. They’re fruity, chewy, sometimes chocolatey, but always packed full of goodness.
For something crunchy and versatile, Lais recommends sliced cucumbers. They’re great for dipping or with your favorite seasoning. Besides they’re low in sodium but high in the electrolyte, potassium.
Whey Protein Powder
If you’re as serious about your fitness routine as Lais is, then you’re never without a serving or two of your favorite protein powder and a shaker cup. All you have to do is add water and enjoy! It’s an easy, high protein snack. You’ll have to watch the video to find out which protein powder is Lais DeLeon’s favorite 😉
Emergency High Carb Snacks
For when you need a quick pick-me-up, a couple of Paleo cookies should do the trick. Plus, who doesn’t love cookies?
A berry delicious bowl of mixed berries – not too high in sugar, but rich in nutrients.
Veggie Dip & Hummus
If you’ve powered through those cucumbers, don’t worry. There’s backup – sliced red peppers and hummus. Yum!
Kickstart your workout with some cold brew coffee. It goes perfectly with chocolate NLA for Her protein powder for the perfect pre-workout shake. Lais loves her coffee!
