When it comes to fitness, the mind-body connection is a powerful and motivating force. It’s a bit like discovering the fountain of youth, because it makes you feel so incredible. Just ask Fitmark Ambassador David Morin. His belief in the mind-body connection is the driving force behind his healthy lifestyle and fitness practice. His fitness philosophy comes from a place that he calls, MORINMIND:
Where the elements of fitness combine forging balance between body & mind™
Work Life Balance
Finding balance in life, in fitness, in nutrition is something we all strive for as fitness enthusiasts. But even the best of us fall off track sometimes. Take David, for example; when he was a young, first-time father, holding down a job and raising his kids, keeping fit took a back seat for a while. Then years later, he found himself at a turning point in his life and decided to reignite his passion for fitness. He told us:
It all started in 2000 when I was going through a divorce. I had an office job and my ex left the state of VA for NJ. Through a series of events, I started training and got certified. Then I moved to NYC to be close to my sons. This started my fitness journey. I worked with Men’s Health, Muscle & Fitness and more.
Hard Work Pays Off
Sixteen years later and David is now an actor and fitness model, as well as a sponsored athlete and the co-founder of Lynx Fitness.
We are all born with the equal opportunity to be unequal…the difference is work.
He’s appeared in more than 100 elite fitness magazines and publications, including 25 covers in 20 different countries. He’s one of the most sought-after models and experts in the fitness world.
Finding a Healthy Balance
But fitness has become much more to David than a way of keeping in shape. It’s become a philosophy and a way of life – you could say, a way of survival. We asked him what he likes most about being a fitness professional:
Helping others discover their strongest self. I enjoy opening the eyes, the mind and then the body to the possibilities that arise from an authentic and challenging training lifestyle.
Open Your Mind to the Possibilities and Challenge Yourself
David believes in pushing yourself to the limits, as a way of challenging what you’ve always believed possible. When you start to test your limits, you realize you’re capable of much more than you imagined – and that frees your mind of doubts and boosts your self-confidence. He told us:
In the past, I’ve always addressed the psychology of self-limitation with my clients – the breakthroughs and thresholds of confronting fears and going beyond what’s possible…to trust in their own abilities to keep going…in short, empowerment!
Challenging himself is something David does on a daily basis and it’s not unusual to find him outside the gym, mixing things up in Miami Beach – the place he now calls home.

It’s time we all got back in the habit of finding our own game of life. Too many people arrest their ambitions and live vicariously through their idols, it’s a fixation.
Healthy, Balanced Nutrition
Finding balance in nutrition is one area where a lot of us fall down. There’s so many diets and varied information out there, it can get confusing. The trick is to keep it healthy and simple, but varied enough you don’t get bored.
David follows his own nutritional plan, a modified Paleo diet that consists of mostly protein, fruits and vegetables. He’ll spend one day a week carb loading, eating a lot of sweet potatoes, brown rice, etc. But during the week, it’s extra lean and super clean! We asked him for a couple of his favorite recipes.
David Morin’s Favorite Caffeine Treat
- Coconut oil
- Raw coconut milk
- 1 scoop of Dymatize Iso-100
- Shot of espresso
Can’t wait to try that, especially first thing in the morning before the gym! Here’s another delicious recipe that would be excellent for lunch or dinner:
What’s for Lunch?
- Crispy skin salmon with coconut milk quinoa
- Veggie and grass-fed mozzarella salad with raw tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, garlic, olives, olive oil and apple cider vinegar
What Kind of Gym Bag Does David Morin Carry?
We knew David would make the perfect ambassador for Fitmark. We like his philosophy, his style, and most of all his healthy lifestyle. His busy career takes him on the road every day and he also travels a lot by plane. Balancing such a busy itinerary requires planning and packing.
We asked David what he likes most about his Fitmark bags. He told us:
My Fitmark bags are great! They are durable and functional. I’ve taken them on over 12 trips in the past 12 months with no rips or zipper breaks. I love all the compartments and if I need to pack meals, I have more than enough room. My girlfriend packed my Transporter Duffel with 2 weeks worth of food last year on a trip to Mexico! My bag is like American Express, I never leave home without it!
Timing and Patience
What David’s story teaches us is that success is a result of hard work and perseverance. Having the right attitude, the right tools, and the right “timing and patience” will bring you closer to “your shots and opportunities.” In closing, he gave us this advice:
Start small by helping others in your own circle and it will catch like fire.
