When you’re a busy working mom, finding enough time to get everything done in a day is a huge challenge. But when you have a goal and a plan to back it up, it’s easier to carve out your day and stay fit and healthy. Just ask Fitmark Ambassador Adriana Gentile. After the birth of her son and a weight gain of 70+ pounds, she was ready to get her body back.
I was uneducated when it came to fitness and nutrition during my pregnancy, so having always been around 115 lbs and tipping the scale at over 185 lbs, made me very depressed ~ Fitmark Ambassador Adriana Gentile
Cardio, Cardio and More Cardio
Living in Squamish, BC at the time, a beautiful spot just south of Whistler, Adriana took to jogging around her neighborhood, which took about two hours. She told us:
I would push my son in his buggy once in the morning and once at night for a total of 4 hours a day. I lost all the weight, but I looked very malnourished. Because I was only doing cardio, I dropped down to an unhealthy 103 lbs and I’m 5’6″!
The Magic of Weight Lifting
A few years later while living in Montreal, Adriana discovered the transformative power of pumping iron! It was the first time she had hired a personal trainer, and it was a turning point in her life. She was instantly hooked!
Using weights made a world of a difference and I loved fitness!!!
Not only did fitness bring Adriana back to health, but it propelled her into a career in the fitness industry.
The Positive Influence of Fitness
Adriana moved back to Vancouver and worked hard to become a certified personal trainer. With a certificate in TRX, pre- and post-natal fitness, and sports nutrition, she went onto compete at the bikini level. As a fitness professional, she loves being a “positive influence” for other women, especially moms. She says:
I am all about positive energy, vibrations, and good karma so having a career where I have the ability to impact others by introducing them to the optimistic side of being is extremely rewarding.
A Busy Mom’s Fitness and Nutrition Plan
If there is one thing that Adriana learned from her experience, it was that hiring a personal trainer made all the difference to her fitness experience. The moment she was introduced to weight lifting was a life-changer. With her own clients, Adriana says:
My approach to fitness and nutrition is 100% text book. I don’t believe in cutting corners; in hard work I trust.
It may sound harsh, but I am not a coach who sympathizes with excuses. If you want something, give your soul the respect it deserves. I also believe that much like the 30% exercise, 70% nutrition theory, that overall, fitness is 30% body and 70% mind. Train your mind and the rest will all fall into place as it should.
Staying on Track with the Transporter Tote
As a busy working mom, Adriana knows that being organized means packing a lot of stuff for the day ahead. But just how many bags does it take to hold everything you need? One bag, that’s all it takes!
One of the things that Adriana loves about her Transporter Tote is that:
All of my belongings are now conveniently in one place; I’m not searching through multiple bags for my meals, vitamins, protein powder, you name it!
The Transporter Tote is an excellent choice for a busy working mom, because besides its breathtaking beauty (that color tho!), it’s HUGE on the inside! There’s a pocket for everything. But that’s not all. There’s also a removable lunch Box that comes equipped with TSA-approved ice packs to keep your meals cool for up to eight hours. Adriana told us her Fitmark bag:
allows me to actually enjoy my food, and freely at that. What I mean is, I’m always 100% with my nutrition timing, so that has me needing to carry many, many meals as I go through my day. I have a wide range of meals from extremely cold to extremely hot. Having my Fitmark bag means my meals will remain at a safe temperature, which then allows me to eat it freely. I’m not left with the thought of “was that okay to eat..?? Am I going to survive?!” LOL! Always doing the smell test….a thing of the past! 😉
Adriana Gentile’s Top 3 Fit Tips
1. Believe and have faith that the universe works with us, not against us. If you work hard, you WILL be rewarded. “He who says he can’t and he who says he can, are both usually right.”
2. Have confidence in yourself, which then relays into having respect to all of those around you. (As well as mother nature. Be good to the earth and the earth will be good to you.) Everything happens for a reason and you don’t meet people by accident. Everyone brought to you on your life’s path has a purpose, so remain humble and true to yourself and that purpose, sooner or later, will become apparent.
3. Know that every instance, whether it’s good or bad has been brought to you for your growth. We grow from our struggles and questioning the unknown.
