You all know how much we love helping kids through our 1 for 100 giving-back program. So you’ll understand why we were so fired up when we first met Janielly Dias – School Psychologist, Fitness Athlete and…Fitmark Ambassador. Naturally!
As a School Psychologist, Janielly works with elementary school kids, giving them the help and tools they need to succeed in school. Because kids’ lives are much like adults’ lives these days – busy, scheduled, full of stress – they need coping skills to help them manage their time and maintain their sanity. What better role model than an NQ NPC competitor with a degree in psychology?
I believe your mental health is as important or more important than your physical health ~ Fitmark Ambassador Janielly Dias
Secrets to Succeeding in Life
Managing your time, setting goals and staying on track is all part of a successful life, no matter who you are. But no one understands the value of goal setting, action planning, and managing your time quite like a fitness athlete. From this unique standpoint, Janielly can bring these kids a fresh and valuable perspective.
It’s my personal goal to keep work, life, fitness balanced.
This is a personal goal Janielly can bring to her job as a positive influence to the kids under her guidance. Having once been a hard-working student herself, Janielly also understands what it takes to juggle school, a job, social commitments, and still have time for herself.
Making sure you have time to maintain healthy, positive relationships (and have time for yourself) is key to being able to perform in all areas of your life.
The Starting Point
It was during one of the busiest times of her life, when she was at college, that she realized it was time to get fit.
Between working towards my graduate degree in psychology, working to pay the bills, and life demands, I put my health as a priority.
Schooling the Mind to Fit the Body
Besides varsity volleyball in high school, Janielly didn’t get really serious about working out until about 2 ½ years ago. She told us:
At that point, I was unhappy with how I looked, but didn’t know where to begin. I put my health as a priority and signed myself up at a local gym.
So as a psychology student, she delved into the world of weight lifting, melding the two worlds of mental and physical, sort of like a personification of the mind-body connection! She told us:
After about six months of working out and just five weeks of eating clean, I stepped on stage for the first time to compete in a bikini competition. Since then, I fell in love with the sport and have been enjoying the journey.
Now working as a full-time school psychologist for two different elementary schools, as well as working as a professional fitness athlete, Janielly finds that her Fitmark Envoy Duffel bag is an essential part of staying packed and on track for the entire day!
Having all my meals packed and ready to go keeps me on track with my diet. The Envoy Duffel bag has a cooler compartment, so I place my daily meals in there! 🙂 There’s also room for my work laptop and files, and gym gear! – 3 functions in 1 cool bag! 🙂
Janielly Dias Fitness Routine
When it comes time to hitting the gym, Janielly says she feels “blessed to be able to leave work at a decent hour and hit the gym before going home.” Janielly’s approach to working out is a unique one that suits her goals and works with her body’s metabolism.
– As far as fitness goes, I lift heavy 4 times a week, and do cardio 6 times a week!
– I prefer a split workout routine, where I train each body part once a week.
– During my off season, I like to mix things up. I have more fun by trying some new classes at the gym.
– My nutrition consists primarily of eating clean foods and lean proteins, like chicken and white fish.
– However, I also love creating healthy recipes and fitting them into my macros.
We just so happen to have one of those macro-friendly recipes right here:
