Balancing Macros and Meals
Practice makes perfect, and the same can be said of meal prep and planning your meals. It’s all about finding the ideal balance between your macros and your menu. When you’re first starting out though, this can mean a lot of time spent in the kitchen experimenting, as Jessie found out at the beginning of her fitness journey. She told us:
I first started meal prepping, it used to take forever! My husband would make fun of me because I would be so hungry (hangry) while prepping the food, but I had to have it perfectly weighed out and measured. It definitely has gotten easier with time! I realized you need to be prepared to do meal prep…don’t do it hungry!
Meal Prep and Macros
You could say that the hard work you put in at the gym continues in the kitchen, once you get home! Because when you train like a beast, you have to eat like on too!
Jessie explains that “since counting macros is about consistency, food prep plays a huge role in the process.” Which is why it plays such an important role in her Jessie’s Girls Training Programs. She told us:
I encourage my Jessie’s Girls to meal prep, so they can not only know the macros of their meals ahead of time, but also save time and have a balanced meal ready on hand.
Jessie teaches her clients about “mastering macro calculations” in her Jessie’s Girls Training Programs – a series of online training programs, one-on-one coaching, and training camps that offer the tools and support needed to turn their lives around. She told us:

Fuel Your Body
Jessie is often surprised to find how little women eat generally throughout the day, and her clients are often surprised to find out how much Jessie eats in one day! Somewhere between 2,200 and 2,400 calories! Jessie believes in “eating to fuel your body,” and follows this practice throughout her day. She told us:
I will always have meals with me for the time I am away from the house. For example, when I go into the office I bring my Fitmark Bag filled with meals and snacks for my day. And if I am traveling for an expo or a Jessie’s Girls camp, I will freeze things like egg whites so they are ready to go by the time I reach my destination.
Prep Your Meals : Pack Your Bag

Jessie told us:

Meal Prep Tips
Jessie’s number one tip for preparing your meals is cooking everything in large batches. She told us:
Cooking in bulk saves so much time. I am a busy mama, so it is all about prepping in bulk for me! I prepare the meat all at the same time, and do the same with preparing my fats and carbs.
When you have all your macros prepared, all you then have to do is package it all up into your meal portions. Jessie told us:
I have never been super fancy with prepping my food. Stick to the basics; it is the easiest way to save time and stay on track!
Jessie’s Favorite Recipe
“I love burritos, and this one in particular is amazing with the mango salsa! I often times will have meats prepared (hamburger meat) and make all new meals out of what I had from the time before.”
1 flour tortilla
1 slice sharp cheddar cheese
1 beef hamburger patty
2 tablespoons homemade mango salsa
