Fitmark Ambassador Alyx Ulbrich is what you’d call an all star athlete with a breadth of athletic interests and pursuits from lifting to running and ballet! When we asked her for an interview, she said sure! What do you want to talk about…I’m a vegetarian, registered dietician, a bodybuilding athlete, triathlon, and ultra runner and a coach!!! Wow! Being a fitness pro is a dream come true; I truly have the most rewarding job in the world. Every day I get to be a part of someone’s journey to a healthier, happier, more enjoyable lifestyle for them and their families! I see people beat cancer, walk away from obesity, and get off medicine. I cheer on people stepping on stage, crossing finish lines, and competition globally! I truly can’t imagine a better life!
The Fitness Profile
Always changing and forever evolving, Alyx has found her fitness path through sport and fitness. Known for her brutal workouts, her athletic background includes gymnastics, ballet, MMA, Powerlifting, and CrossFit. As a resident of Hawaii, Alyx loves taking in the many natural wonders that this place has to offer and is often seen hiking, biking, running, surfing, paddle boarding, and even sky diving. Now with a passion for lifting, triathlon and running, if she’s not competing somewhere around the world, one of her Team A To Z clients is. There’s always the thrill of competition in the air! She told us:
My events definitely tend to overlap a bit! At WBFF Worlds in Toronto where I was in the Top 20 as WBFF Fitness Pros in 2016, I was all cut up from an age division win and overall second female at the Ultra Spartan Race in Hawaii! Fitness Tan, the official tanning company, did their best to hide the cuts, but that’s a perfect example of overlapping sports and juggling them!
Driven by the power to motivate others and contribute to their successful fitness journeys, Alyx finds her own motivation from her business partner and husband, Kris, and from their amazing Team A To Z clients. She told us:
My husband is honestly my biggest driving force. As he is active duty USMC, we spend more time apart than we do together, but having such an intelligent, athletic driven man as my better half…. I’m always on my toes, and I would never want to let him down! My clients are also a HUGE source of inspiration as I work with people from ALL walks of life and seeing the battles they overcome, inspires me daily!!!
Holistic Approach To Fitness
A registered dietitian and bodybuilding vegetarian, Alyx has a natural approach to fitness that is based on holistic healing, natural cure, and wholefood-based ideals. She is now in the final phase of obtaining her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. She told us:
Meal prep and quality nutrition is key to fitness, but more so just to overall health! I believe in eating whole, REAL foods, using QUALITY supplements, and remaining Drug FREE! Too many people look for the shortcut or depend on low quality foods that eventually leave them in a nutritional hole or a health crisis that can be hard to recover from. I may have more “cheat meals” and be high calorie than the average fitness competitor, but I can get away with it because I always aim for quality sourced foods, and I am extremely active every day of my life! I am always on the go and having Fitmark is CRUCIAL to being able to prepare ahead of time! Just like I tell my clients, “Plan and Meal Prep for Success or Plan on Failure!”
Meal Prep and Quality Nutrition
Being prepared is the secret to any successful plan in the making. Alyx makes a point of scheduling her workout sessions in her diary to keep her on track. She told us:
I always plan out my workout schedule, and while I don’t overly detail the structure of every single lift or cardio, I do plan it ahead of time so my daily schedule never overwhelms my goals and those fitness priorities!
Those fitness priorities include meal prep and always having your meals ready to take with you. Alyx is constantly on the go and needs to be prepared with her meals in check and a meal prep bag that can handle the job. She told us:
Fitmark is a part of my everyday needs! From 6 in the morning when I step out the door to take our guardian to school, my meals are packed and ready to go. By the time I get home from workouts, errands, and get to my desk, I would be a hot mess if I hadn’t prepared and taken my nutrition with me. I’m often on the go for 8 – 12 hours of the day!

The Next Adventure
Alyx is always off on some adventure or other. She is competing in a 100 UltraRun in October and an Ironman in November, which we’ll be following up on to get some inside tips. But that’s not all.
Just recently Alyx held her debut fitness retreat with partner and sister Fitmark Ambassador Holly Barker in beautiful Hawaii. An adventure in the wilderness and an inside look into the fitness industry, Alyx and Holly offer “like-minded women from all walks of life” the fitness experience of a lifetime.
