As a law enforcement officer, Fitmark Ambassador Rebecca Baksa takes her fitness attitude to work every day! She says it makes her a better team player and it keeps her on her toes so she can fight crime and serve her community to her physical best. She told us:
Fitness makes me feel confident and strong and gives me the ability as a law enforcement officer to assist other law enforcement officers, as well as members of the community. Being fit ensures that I have a fighting chance when in a dangerous situation.
Working Her Way Up The Ranks
Becca has been a law enforcement officer for four years and is currently “preparing for the academy,” so life gets in the way sometimes and she’s cool with that. You just have to roll with the punches. She told us:
I have weeks where “life happens” and I don’t get to the gym as often as I would like to. I do my best to push through weeks like that and truly look forward to a “normal” gym schedule the following week.
Becca admits it’s not easy putting on muscle, especially if you’re a woman, but she pops a pretty impressive bicep pose nevertheless! Someday she hopes to compete in figure, but for now her focus in on the job. She told us:
I began working out in 2010, but I wasn’t very serious about it. I only felt comfortable using a handful of the machines and the elliptical. Looking to challenge myself, I began Crossfit and did that for approximately two years and then transitioned to a regular gym. I didn’t get serious about lifting until 2014. But I’ve been lifting hard since!
Meal Prep On The Job
Working in law enforcement requires long shifts and demanding situations, so eating regularly has its challenges. Becca told us:
It’s difficult to stick to the diet while in the field or working details, especially since my partners don’t typically prep meals like me. I do allow myself to eat out, but again, it is done with moderation and I do my best to make good choices. I try to eat with a purpose, but I also like to be happy.
Becca says she keeps her diet healthy and and always makes good choices, but unless she decides to compete, she doesn’t think she’ll “ever be the woman walking around with a visible six pack!”
Becca Baksa’s Top 3 Fit Tips
Despite her modesty, Becca is committed and trains like a beast every time she hits the gym. She has found a few secret ingredients that help her stay on track and here they are:
- Always go to the gym on Sunday. It’s much easier for me to start my week at the gym on a Sunday and go back on a Monday versus attempting to start on Monday.
- Begin a routine and try to stay consistent.
- Be happy! There’s no sense in living a fit life if you’re miserable all of the time. It’s important to enjoy the process as well as the lifestyle.
Just like Becca tries to “eat with a purpose” so too does she pack with a purpose. She has a number of Fitmark Bags that she uses for different functions. Check it out:
I love my Fitmark Bags. I have the Shield LG, the Shield, the Envoy Duffel, and the Transporter Backpack. I’m also waiting on the Max Rep Transition Bag. I use my Transporter Backpack at the gym, my Shield LG at work, and my Envoy Duffel for traveling. You really can’t go wrong with any of them!
So you can see, Becca’s fitness attitude is the kind of thing you wish everybody had – especially on the job!
