Planning a travel adventure is an exciting time and one that you want to go down as stress-free as possible. So when it comes to packing the right bag, you know Fitmark has you covered. Fitmark Ambassador Alex Izzo found that out recently when she traveled to Europe for 23 days with her Fitmark Power Duffel Bag.
I have a lot of bags by Fitmark – not just for meal prep, but for travel too. I take my Performance Duffel bag on short trips wherever I go, and took my larger Power Duffel bag all through Europe on my 23-day adventure. The bags are sturdy, spacious and can be used for any kind of adventure, whether it be fitness, travel or for work 🙂
Alex took one bag to Europe and that was the Power Duffel because it fit everything she needed! She told us:
It was sturdy, easy to carry and perfect for the amount of clothes and I had a different outfit every day. It came with me to the UK, to Croatia, then Barcelona, hopped over to Ibiza, and then made its way to Paris!
Traveling is something Alex loves to do as an entertainer and actor looking for inspiration, and 23 days in Europe certainly was the kind of adventure she was looking for. She says:
I have met tons of wonderful people in my life so far and hope to meet more.
When Alex is not traveling or making people laugh, she enjoys working out. Fitness has had a positive influence on her life as an entertainer and she finds it strengthens her performance. “After all,” she says, “your body is your instrument.” After she moved to LA, she got more interested in the fitness world and decided to take the plunge and train for her first-ever fitness competition. She told us:
I pushed myself into entering my first fitness competition with the NPC. After that, the rest is history. I loved my body, I loved seeing the healthy and positive changes I was making, and I now can encourage others to experience the same. 🙂
Entering into a competition teaches you a lot about the body and how to eat and train. Meal prepping was part of the routine for Alex, though when she’s not competing she’s more flexible with her nutrition. She told us:
Let’s be real – meal prepping isn’t easy, but 100% worth the results and nothing worthwhile is easy! When I decide I’m going to enter into a competition, that’s when the full force meal prep begins. If I am just maintaining, I meal prep about 50%, still enjoying life, but not going overboard. Since I’m on set long days a majority of the time, and craft services isn’t always healthy – I like to pack my own meals with me, so I don’t slip up.
Being more flexible with your diet when you’re traveling certainly helps too, especially when you want to try new and different foods. But that doesn’t mean you can’t travel with your meal bag and prepare some healthy meals to take with you when you’re out sightseeing. When Alex is at home she uses her meal prep bags and plans her meals to help her stay on track. She told us:
I usually meal prep for the week while I’m making my dinner… And I usually make enough food for my prep and completely forget my dinner. I usually end up having to eat one of my preps.
Living a healthy, fit lifestyle has already led to some pretty cool roles for Alex like the web show SuperHeroines, where stunt work and fight choreography keep her on her toes. The number one fit tip she told us was “stick with it!”
Results don’t start showing until after 4 weeks. And most changes to your body happen in the kitchen. The rule of having “just one” won’t fly if you want the kind of results you’re gunning for. Saying ‘no’ is the hardest part, but that one word is the defining point between excellence and mediocrity.
