MEAL PREP BAG: the Shield
Eating healthy and getting your daily nutritional goals on point is priority number one when you want to lose weight. Having a meal plan and preparing your food ahead of time are the planning and preparing part of your weight loss success. We asked Lacy for some weight loss tips:
Top 3 Fit Tips for Someone Wanting to Lose Weight
- Two words: Food Prep. Food is your fuel, and consistency in this will give you quick results. This is a game changer.
- Find a workout you love. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, try something else. With so many options available today, you will eventually find a group that works for you, and then your workout will no longer be something you dread but a highlight of your day.
- Consistency is key. Keep going for a month and you should notice changes in your body. You may feel a firmness that wasn’t there before as a result of changes in your body composition. Keep at it for another month and your clothes fit differently, and you’ll see obvious changes in yourself when you look in the mirror. By month three, everyone else begins to notice. That’s when people want to know what you’re doing? When that starts to happen you will be motivated all over again!
How Do You Define Your Nutritional Goals?
It’s so important to get this part of the equation right that it’s worth working with a certified personal trainer to start you out on the right path. So many people get his part wrong and then wonder why they’re not seeing results. Lacy gave us this advice:
Know what your numbers are before you prep. Use a nutritional calculator, talk to a nutritionist, or read a book from a reliable source. No matter which way you choose to figure it out, you should establish a calorie and macro goal. Your results will happen much faster if you have these numbers and prep your food accordingly. It will also give you a baseline to help you adjust your food intake accordingly. Meaning, if your initial prep does not prompt the weight loss you expect, you make minor adjustments until you respond.
As a fitness competitor, Lacy needs to adjust her diet depending on her goals at the time. She’s a pro at dialing it in when it counts, but also enjoying your food at the same time. She told us:
Healthy eating is definitely a way of life for me. I know how many ounces of protein, carbs, and fat my body needs each day. When I’m not competing or prepping for a photo shoot, I still attempt to come close to my daily nutritional goals, but still live a little. When I have a body goal weeks away, I dial in my nutrition and try to get as close to my macro goals as possible, while limiting “cheats” to one meal per week. Even then, I clean them up a little, subbing a filet for my usual pizza, and cutting out snacks and condiments.
Pack Your Meals Every Day
To anticipate the day ahead, Lacy makes sure she keeps her Fitmark Meal Bag packed and ready to go. Besides menu planning and food preparing, packing your meal bag is essential to staying on track no matter where life takes you. She told us:
I may not know exactly where my day will lead me, but with my FitMark Bag packed I know that my diet will be on point. Not only that, I travel a couple times per month and can’t imagine leaving without my food prep bag on my shoulder. It really enables you to balance life and healthy eating no matter where in the world you end up.
Fitness Changes Lives
Getting motivated to get fit is a big step for most of us. But if it helps, just remember that it will change your life for the better. It’s a personal journey for everybody, but if there’s one thing all fitness enthusiasts agree upon, it’s that fitness changes your life. Lacy told us:
Fitness keeps me strong and healthy – not only physically, but mentally too! As long as I’m consistent with fitness, I feel unstoppable. It’s positively affected my life in so many ways. A lifestyle has turned into my career, which means it not only changes my life, but allows me to change so many other people’s lives too. For this, I am so grateful. Fitness adds years to our lives, and quality to those years.
