My Fitmark bags have been a daily companion of mine for many years now. As a certified trainer, natural fitness pro world champion, writer and model for magazines, and blogger my life revolves around various aspects of fitness. How I eat has become a lifestyle for me. One thing I say often is that Fitmark bags are one of the single most useful tools helping me keep my nutrition on track. This is not just a marketing statement, but the absolute truth. A day has not gone by in the last several years with all of life’s adventures where I didn’t have Fitmark by my side. I thought it would be helpful and fun to share all the various ways I have used my collection of Fitmark bags through the years.
OFF TO WORK WE GO!
When I head off to work I carry a lot of stuff with me because I always have a lot of running around to do before I ever make it back home. I never leave the house without everything I need including my food and supplements. When I walk in the doors to Elite Training Tulsa each morning I have several bags with me including a Class back pack and either the Shield LG or new Trunk ‘meal management’ bags. The Class back pack holds my laptop, charger cord, and other work supplies. I really like the red velvet-like sleeve that keeps my laptop safe and scratch free. It has just enough pockets to keep all my work supplies organized and easy to find. Then holding my full days worth of food is either the Shield LG or Trunk. I use these slightly bigger ‘meal management’ bags because I typically bring two shaker bottles, a big lunch, supplements, condiments, and utensils. The fact that those bags are big enough to hold shaker bottles is a big plus for me. My nightly process when arriving home includes unloading my bag, pre-packing the next days supplements and utensils, and getting lunch ready and in the fridge to be loaded in the morning. My day starts and ends with Fitmark.
A VISIT TO IRON PARADISE
I work out because I enjoy it. The physical benefits are all just a big bonus for me. You’ll always find me in the gym five days a week then I’ll hit one home workout on the weekends. When I step into the gym doors I always have two bags on me. One is my Envoy duffle bag holding my many tools of the trade and the other is my lunch bag mentioned above holding shaker bottles and supplements.
When I workout it’s almost a short day trip. I not only workout at a natural pro championship level, but I am there to work as well taking photographs, filming, creating content for social media and my sponsors, as well as designing new programs and methods. Between working out and creating content my trips to the gym typically run 2 ½ to 3 hours daily. My Envoy duffle holds my lifting belt, straps, sleeves, camera gear and stands, as well as my pre and intra workout containers. Who knows what else is down in there?! The reason I bring along my lunch ‘meal management’ bag (Shield LG or Trunk) is because it can keep two shaker bottles ice cold in addition to all the food.
It’s always pre-loaded with one protein shake that I drink as the beginning of my workouts, another shaker with ice for my intra-workout, and a smaller plastic container holding my post workout powder that I wait to mix immediately after my final set. Do I care that people comment on having two bags in the gym? Nope, I only care about the results I continue to get year after year 😉
I WANT TO FLY AWAY
Every now and then I have to fly off somewhere for a short 1-3 day trip. Maybe places like a fitness expo to meet up with my Fitmark family, or Las Vegas for the Mr. Olympia weekend. Trips like these can cause havoc with ones nutrition planning. Airport food is not known for being healthy or cheap. I solved both of these problems on my last several trips by packing my Fitmark Cruiser suitcase which holds clothing for several days, toiletries, as well as keeping 1-2 meals cold.
When flying I always eat before leaving the house and make sure to have water on me at all times. Staying fully hydrated while traveling is important. I also like to have 1-2 protein shakes on hand for the layover or longer fights. The best way to travel with supplements is to not bring the full containers, but put single scoops of whatever you need in small zip lock bags. It takes up much less room that way. Just plan ahead exactly what you need. The Envoy duffle would work for short flight trips as well. Both of those ‘meal management’ bags hold two large food containers. I try to pack protein and veggies that taste good cold in case I cannot find a microwave.
LET’S HIT THE ROAD
Going anywhere fun with my crew of six can get expensive real quick and that’s before we ever arrive to our destination. We tend to take mini-vacations within 5 hours away from home to places like Dallas, Kansas City, and Branson to cut down on cost. If you have kids you know they will want snacks and drinks before you even leave town. Then if you have a fitness junky in the car, like myself, they will want a full meal, water, and protein shakes. Pre-packing a much larger Fitmark ‘meal management’ bag like their new Trunk can have the whole family covered. Ideal things to pack for day trips include lots of water bottles, protein shake, a protein and veggie low carb meal, fruit, and healthy dry snacks for the kids like beef jerky, dried fruit, and nuts. I’m all about balance and enjoying family vacations, but I’m not wasting my ‘free/cheat’ meals on gas station good and fast food.
TAKE ME OFF TO THE BALL GAME
As parents, or just adults in general, we find ourselves extremely busy. My wife and I have to be intentional to do fun things with the kids so it’s not only the hustle and bustle of daily life. Doing fun things like the drive-in theater, baseball games, or even a lunch at the park can create long lasting family memories. In these cases I don’t need a huge bag filled with food, but just some snacks or ‘backup’ in case someone gets hungry. Fitmark has the perfect bags for these shorter events like their EZ Pack, Box, and Evolution back pack. They are all smaller, easy to carry around, and hold just enough food for the fun times.
THE PERFECT GIFT
Lastly, but not least, Fitmark bags make perfect gifts for family and friends. These bands can single handedly change the game for someone struggling with proper nutrition as they have for me. They are available at various price ranges for all budgets.
