Getting Back On Track

You all know how hard it is to stick to your healthy eating plan, especially if you’re in an office job where temptation lurks behind every corner. Sometimes it can feel like you’re fighting a losing battle. But Fitmark Ambassador Amy Roberts, who fell off the fitness wagon for five years, has some tips for getting back on track.

Getting Back On Track

I understand the frustration and struggle most people go through when approaching their fitness goals. I know what it’s like to have a goal but not know where to start or what exactly to do. I know what it’s like to not know how to use the equipment and be too embarrassed to ask for help. I know what it’s like to try different kinds of diets but not know which one is right.

We’ve all been there and the truth is, figuring out a healthy eating plan and fitness routine takes a lot of research, not to mention trial and error. Amy told us:

My advice: ASK FOR HELP!!!!!!! If you are struggling with eating and weight loss, fat loss, or muscle gain, take the time to reach out to a real professional and get on the right path. Do your research!

You Can’t Out-Train an Unhealthy Diet

Amy used to have an office job and it was during this time she started to ignore her fitness routine. Food was another issue, and she fell into some unhealthy eating habits. She told us:

I ate clean foods about 50% of the time, but I indulged in Mexican food, ice cream, and alcohol the rest of the time. In order to lose a couple of pounds and not feel so fluffy, I would hit up the gym, but my efforts were futile. I was frustrated with my lack of results and knew I was clueless about how to attain them. But I was too shy and fearful to ask for help.

Ask a Professional Trainer for Help

After seeking the help of a professional personal trainer, Amy got back on track and had a deeper understanding of how to train and fuel her body. She loved it so much, she now works in the industry and is helping those people, like her, who have fallen off track and are too afraid to ask for help. She told us:

My aim is to show my clients the path and give them the confidence to continue on their own.

Top 3 Fit Tips

  1. Log your food daily
  2. Hire a professional
  3. Do not just rely on cardio for weight loss, resistance/weight training MUST be incorporated into your program!

Sticking to her program and keeping up with her busy schedule means Amy has to be organized and have a bag or two packed and ready to go every morning. She told us:

I honestly use my Fitmark Bags on a daily basis. Being as busy as I am, I have to take the time to prepare my meals in advance and always have them with me so I do not skip a meal or have to choose something that doesn’t fit my needs. When I travel, I use my Fitmark Sport Duffel Bag every time. It is perfect because I can fit two meals and my regular stuff that I would have in my purse. It’s my favorite bag!

When you find yourself stuck in a rut and uninspired to work out, ask for help! Ask a professional to set you up with a fitness and meal plan to get you back on track. Amy says:

I’ll leave you with some parting words that have always helped push me in the direction of positive change and progress: “If it’s important to you, you will find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse.”
